COMMENTS
Corydon District Court is more formally known as the Wayne District Court. It is among the courts in the Fifth judicial district of Iowa. US 65 runs the length of Wayne county and meets SR 2. SR 14 coming from the North ends at Corydon where it also meets with SR 2.
ABOUT THE AREA
Corydon was selected as the county seat of Wayne around the time of the organization of the county, around 1851, by a three man committee designated by the Iowa Legislature. The town was laid out in the same year and occupied much of the land originally owned by a settler from Ohio. There is now a log cabin in Dotts Park which is a replica of the cabin lived in by the settler's family. Two railroads laid their track through Corydon, albeit approximately thirty years apart. First to come was the Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska railroad, later to become the Keokuk & Western and then around 1900 the Burlington. The Rock Island railroad was the second one to come to the city. The Prairie Trails Museum holds over 25000 historical county artifacts and a collection of early farm artifacts in its red Heritage Barn. If you want to take a break from visiting the museum; a nearby park and picnic area has tables under a group of tall oak trees.
