The county court and the district court (Box 25), each of which is in their respective Eighth Nebraska judicial district, are located in the Howard County courthouse. Generally speaking US 281 and SR 11 will get you to points North to south in Howard county and they meet with SR 58 and SR 92.

The North Loup Recreation area, just North of St. Paul, lies along the Loup river and allows fishing during the day and has camp sites for tents. With several major league baseball players having come from Nebraska, this city created the Museum of Nebraska Major League Baseball. The exhibits here depict elements of the careers of over 140 baseball major leaguers with some ties to the state of Nebraska. The Howard County Historical village consists of historical buildings; an actual pioneer church, schoolhouse, store, agricultural building with farming equipment, blacksmith shop, post office, a merchant's house and depot. The buildings in the village contain artifacts from county history. The residents are fortunate to have the magnificent Grover Cleveland Alexander Ball field which hosts statewide championships, two other ballfields, a new heated outdoor municipal pool and a city park.
