If you are in the Keya Paha County courthouse you can expect to get to the county court and the district court (Box 349) each of which is in their respective Eighth judicial district of Nebraska. SR 12 runs clear across Key Pash county until it meets US 183 and makes a right turn to travel North for a bit , then turns East and meets SR 137 on its way East. SR 7 runs off US 183.

The county of Keya Paha takes its name from the Indian name for turtle hill. It was originally part of Brown County and unsettled until the late 1870’s. At that time land was cheap and attractive to settlers. Four landowners contributed the land for the village. The Springview Recreation area has picnic shelters, a playground, baseball diamond and basketball and tennis courts. The Keya Paha County Historical Society museum has exhibits displaying representations of past life in the county including a one room school, quilting room, grocery store, reading room, tool room, the original printing press from the first county newspaper and the old safe that was broken into from the bank that was robbed years ago and on the grounds a furnished log cabin.
