The county court (Suite 1) and the district court (Suite 4) are located in the Hall County courthouse. They are each part of their respective Ninth judicial district of Nebraska. There is charge for faxes to the county court. Good roads to use in Hall county are IS 80, US 30, US 34, US 281, SR 2, SR 11, SR 40C and SR 40D.

In the Summer of 1857, a group of settlers, consisting of German immigrants, who came from Davenport, Iowa and supported by a banking house to develop a city in central Nebraska arrived at a location in an area named by French Fur Traders as “La Grande Island”. Within a few months they built log houses to start the settlement. Around 1866 Union Pacific plans included laying out the town of Grand Island and establishing a depot there. The discovery of gold at Pike’s Peak in Colorado led to the passage of people traveling to Western states in seek of great fortune. The supplies they bought during their stop in Grand Island sold at high prices, bringing large financial gains for its merchants. Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer is wonderful place to visit because of the scope of its exhibits. Here you can experience a hands-on living history experience that tells the story of early town building in Nebraska. The Stuhr Building features art and historical exhibits and exhibits representative of the story of the prairie pioneer. The Gus Fonner Memorial Rotunda houses collections of Native American and Old West memorabilia and in its center stands a life-sized sculpture of a Sioux Indian family, titled “The Arrowmaker”. Over 200-pieces of a Antique Auto and Farm Machinery exhibit including an 1880 threshing machine, early steam engines, tractors, antique automobiles and examples of horse-drawn and tractor-drawn farm implements are housed in an another building. The railroad exhibit includes the Union Pacific Engine 437, Union Pacific Boarding car and Union Pacific caboose. Completing the complex are the Hornady Family arbor, the Pawnee Earth Lodge and teepees, the Log Cabin settlement and the Taylor Ranch. The George Clayton Hall County park, which is a wildlife refuge and popular recreation area, has a storied history. It was originally Schimmer's Sand Krog, built by an immigrant from Germany had an octagonal ballroom and a man made lake. As the center of the local German population it also served as the place to buy merchandise and conduct other business. It closed to make room for US 281 but was later reclaimed and resurrected in its present form.
