COMMENTS
Fairview Court is in Montana's Seventh judicial district. SR 200 and SR 201 meet in Fairview.
ABOUT THE AREA
A small piece of this town lies in North Dakota. The town was founded around 1906 but until approximately 6 years later when the railroad arrived the town was going nowhere. Then the town's economy took off. Hotel Albert was built followed by a creamery, cheese plant, brick factory and pickle company and other businesses. Roads and transportation were soon established. Many of the factories were built with bricks from the town's brick factory and residents and many newcomers found work in the coal mine and power plant. Around 1920, the nearby town of Mondak closed down and houses and buildings from that town were moved across the frozen river to Fairview. During the Spring and Summer many fishermen are attracted to the Missouri river, just to the North of town, to catch the large, flat billed paddlefish which make their annual spawning run up the river. Fairview bills itself as the Sugar Beet Capital of Montana and North Dakota and indeed much of the farmland in the area is used to grow the vegetable.
