Chouteau District Court is probably the more common name of the Chouteau County Court which is in the Twelfth judicial district of Montana.
ABOUT THE AREA
First established around 1865, Choteau county did not take on its name until about 17 years later when it was named for two brothers who were fur traders and owners of the original trading post. The Chippewa-Cree tribe lives in this county on the Rocky Boys Indian reservation in the Bear's Paw Mountains to the Northeast. At one time Fort Benton was the port for fur traders, gold seekers and settlers who came to this city via steamboats on the Missouri River.
