Laurel Court is located in the Thirteenth judicial district of Montana. Laurel is visited by IS 90 Business Bypass which meets US 212, US 310 and SR 532 in the city and IS 90 runs through the Southernmost part of the city.

Laurel lies on the Yellowstone river. Around 1806, Captain William Clark made camp at the site which eventually became known as Laurel. The original name of the town was Carlton. Settlers started coming and making their homes in the Laurel area around 1879. The community became a city almost ten years later. Nowadays Riverside park has camping sites available with showers, water and electricity hook-ups, tent spaces, horseshoe pits, and picnic areas However, during World War II the park was the site of the German Prisoner of War camp. For a small town, laurel has a large number of parks, 16 in all.
