US 2, US 2BR and US 85 are the major roads in Williston.

Blacktail dam on Blacktail creek, near Williston, is a great place to take the family for fishing and camping. Fort Buford, a military posts established to protect overland and river routes and used as a supply depot for military field operations, is another great place to visit. A stone powder magazine, the post cemetery site, the Officer of the Guard building and a officers' quarters building in which there is a museum still remain. The exhibits in the museum are representative of the life of a frontier military officer at Fort Buford and the role of women at an army post. The Officer of the Guard building has on display items from the State Historical Society of North Dakota collections and period reproductions. E.J. The Hagan M.D. Aquatic center and the Eckert Youth Pool are popular gathering places in the Summer. The center is equipped with an indoor pool. In addition to free swimming this location is the scene of swim meets.
