Lakota District Court is formally known as the district court of Nelson county and is in the Northeast Central judicial district of North Dakota.
ABOUT THE AREA
Nelson County which was founded around 1883 depends primarily on agriculture for its economy and to a lesser extent on the livestock industry. Spring wheat, soybeans, canola, corn and edible beans are the mainstays of the agricultural crops. One of the attractions in this county is the Nelson County Barn Quilt trail which consists of a series of quilt patterns painted on local barns throughout the county. Spread throughout the county are lakes such as Lake Laretta, McVille Dam, Tolna Dam and Whitman Dam.
