SR 17 runs through the Northern part of Park River and meets CR 128 running along the Western part of town.

Park River was founded around 1884 and has evolved into a community surrounded by farms growing potatoes, sugar beets, small grains, edible beans, sunflowers, canola and corn. Since its opening in 1915, the Lyric theater was the place townfolk went to see the movies from silents to talkies. Soon after the start of the 21st century, a business group made up of students at Park River high school set about reviving and restoring the Lyric theater. Some of the more interesting sights in town are the murals on the sides of buildings by artist Jon Fjeld, especially the one near the golf course and alongside a pond, depicting a a diner of years gone by. The Park River swimming pool i well equipped to handle Summer crowds with one large pool and a separate diving pool.
