In remembering the region’s past and present grain growers the city is sometimes known as the “Grain Bin City”. Today Ray's economy benefits from ranches and wheat farms and a growing burgeoning oil and gas industry. Grain Palace Days is held on the first weekend in August. this event has street dances, parades, plenty of food, mud volleyball games, raffles and the Grain Palace Days Rodeo. The historic Grain Palace is now the scene of different events celebrating weddings, reunions and organization gatherings.
