This is Adams county's magistrate court in the Third judicial district of Idaho. District court hearings are held in this courthouse once a month. There are only two major roads running through Adams county, US 95 and SR 55.

When gold was found in Warren and Florence; a trail along the Weiser River and through Council valley was used to transport supplies to the mines from the Boise area; resulting in the development of Adams county. The area of Council was the place where the Nez Perce and Shoshone Indians held their councils, meeting with each other. The Council Valley museum has on exhibit displays of local artifacts collected over a number of years by a local family one of whom was a Council pioneer. In the Western part of the county and shared with Oregon is Hells Canyon National Recreation area with vast mountain areas and remote wilderness; excellent for hiking or horseback riding. In different areas of the park you may come across the rustic remains of early miners and settlers.
