COMMENTS
Blackfoot District Court is formally known as the Bingham County District Court. The Bingham county magistrate court (Fax No. 208-782-3167) is located in the same building as this court. Both courts are in the Seventh judicial district of Idaho. IS 15, IS 15 Bypass, US 20, US 26, US 91 and SR 39 all run through Bingham county.
ABOUT THE AREA
Bingham county was created around 1885 out of the the East and North parts of Oneida county. However, in subsequent years the county lost part of its land to create Fremont, Bonneville, Power and Butte counties. The county maintains five large parks, two of which, North Bingham County Recreation area and Sportsman's park have water and electrical hookups. Blackfoot, the county seat has a population of over 11,000. The idaho Potato museum, in Blackfoot, appropriately enough has a huge potato sitting out front with even a dab of sour cream on it. The museum is located in the old Oregon Short Line Railroad depot. The exhibits show the potato history, the growing and harvesting process, nutrition, trivia and educational potato facts taking the visitor through the transition from the original potato planted in Idaho, to the largest potato crisp made by the Pringle’s company. The museum is home to the Idaho Potato Hall of Fame of people and businesses who contributed to the success of the Idaho Potato as a food and a product. The annual Blackfoot Pride Days is held each year as part of the Fourth of July celebration.
