COMMENTS
Arco Magistrate Court, otherwise known as the magistrate court of Butte county, meets every Thursday of the month. The district court of Butte county meets in the same building one Thursday each month. These courts are part of Idaho's Seventh judicial district. Running through Butte county are major roads US 20, US 26 and US 93, which meet in Arco, and SR 22 and SR 33.
ABOUT THE AREA
At its formation, soon after the start of the 20th century, Arco was known as Root Hog. The name is not all that changed; the city moved its border to be at the intersection of two stagecoach routes. Arco bills itself as the "First City in the World to Be Lit by Atomic Power". The Big Lost river and Pioneer mountains around Arco attract many people looking for outdoor recreational activities. Mountain Whitefish, Rainbow trout & Brook trout can be found in abundance in the Big Lost river and Mackay reservoir. Hunters flock to the foothills of the Pioneer mountains for the deer, elk and other game animals which forage their. For those not inclined to hunt or fish, but want the wind in their hair; snowmobiling is great in Antelope canyon or the Copper basin. Farming, ranching, tourism and the nearby Idaho National Laboratory provide most of the employment for Arco's residents. The Natural Bridge is a huge limestone arch, 80 feet high, on the shoulder of King mountain in the Arco pass area of the Lost River range. Get set to hike if you want to see it, that's the only way to get to it from the the Arco Pass road.
