Hoonah District Court is in Alaska's First judicial district. The judges position at this court is presently vacant. Main streets in the area of Hoonah are White Alice Site road, Airport road and Front street.

Hoonah is a Tlingit community located on Chichagof Island. This is a great place to catch a glimpse of animal life with over 250 species of waterfowl, shorebirds and common birds and the largest Brown bear population in the world. This is addition to the Sitka black-tail deer, land otter, marten, beaver, mink and red squirrels which hang around. You don not have to get on a boat to see the whales here. They are visible from the shore and are joined by orcas, sea lions, porpoise, sea otters and seals. You get the idea that this a place which communes with nature. Throughout the town , there are locations where you can see majestic totem poles including some in the process of being carved. K'eidladee Park is a pleasant place to picnic, walk or jog and is equipped with picnic tables, grills, a basketball hoop, a skateboard ramp and playground.
