Skagway District Court lies within the First judicial district of Alaska. THe major road passing through the city of Skagway is the Klondike highway (State street)

To bring back and remind people of the historic past of this city; a stretch of Broadway has shops and restaurants with historic false-fronts, wooden sidewalks, locals dressed in period costumes and restored buildings. During the Summer visitors can take a tour, led by National Park Service rangers, of the historic district. Back in the gold rush days Skagway was known as a hard drinking town, probably one of the hardest, however you won't find a drink anymore at the restored 1910 saloon now serving as the Mascot Saloon museum. The museum has on display memorabilia and photos and you can only imagine standing at the bar waiting for a cold one. You can drop into the Red Onion saloon, circa 1897, which also served as a brothel. Nowadays it serves meals and drinks and you are invited to visit the bordello museum upstairs. The trail system here leads to alpine lakes and waterfalls. The historic White Pass and Yukon Route railroad offers rides to the top of the mountain pass North of town, on the way passing Glacier Gorge, Dead Horse Gulch and Bridal Veil Falls.
