Las Vegas District Court is formally known as the Fourth district court of San Miguel county in the judicial system of New Mexico.

The Las Vegas museum and Rough Rider Memorial collection is located in the Municipal Building, a building built in the early 1940's by the Works Progress Administration. The permanent exhibits in this museum include La Casita Material a typical northern New Mexico home, The Duncan Opera House with the once-upon-a-time darling of the opera Steinway parlor grand piano, Rolling along the Santa Fe Trail with its hundreds of photos and books and Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders and New Mexico. Residents visit the Abe Montoya Recreation center for its many activities and swimming pool. The facility also has a skateboard park, exercise equipment and basketball, racquetball and volleyball courts.
