SR 61 is called Center street in Lewiston.

Prior to the arrival of homesteaders around 1870; the area around Lewiston was used as a grazing ground for herds and cattle from South of the Cache valley and from nearby communities. Soon after the creation of these homesteads other settlers moved. The settlers had to persevere during the depletion of waters flowing in the canals dug from Worm creek in Idaho. The Lewiston Tithing Office circa 1897 which was later occupied by the Taggart family still exists. The Lewiston theatre still remains a reasonably priced place for families to see movies. The Cub River Sports complex is equipped with four ball fields suitable for baseball or softball.
