This court handles violations occurring throughout Iron county as well as those in Cedar City with the exception of those occurring within the city limits of Parowan.

Cedar City was first settled in the Fall of 1851 by a group of men from Parowan who came here to establish an iron works. The settlement was located on the North bank of Coal Creek and was originally called Fort Cedar and the homes were built as fort-style cottonwood log houses. The original site was moved a couple of times; once to a more strategic position during hostilities with the Indians and then around 1855 to a site closer to the blast furnace and out of the flood plain of Coal Creek. The Utah Summer games are held in June of each year at locations in Cedar City, nearby facilities and other places in Iron county. You might instead want to attend the Great American Stampede held each September in Cedar City which includes competitors from universities in Utah and from nearby states.
