ABOUT THE AREA
The site of the fort built by the first settlers of Mount Pleasant is now marked by a Daughters of the Utah Pioneers marker. It is in the mini garden by the recreation center. Also on this comer is the Veterans Memorial and the familiar Doughboy monument from World War I. In addition on the Carnegie Library corner you will find the pioneer monument honoring pioneers that were the first settlers of Mount Pleasant. The Mt. Pleasant Pioneer Museum and Relic Home is housed in the historic William S. Seely home. On display are photo portraits of the original pioneers and photos of original events, pioneers, homes and historical sites. Other exhibits consist of relics ranging from pioneer quilts and clothing to blacksmith shop tools and equipment. A historical log cabin which was moved to the site houses old blacksmith tools and equipment. Hub City Days in late June through early July includes the celebration of the Fourth of July featuring a parade, early bird breakfast at the park, food, games and entertainment at the park all day, Soap Box Derby races, a rodeo and a great fireworks display.
