ABOUT THE AREA
This is a mining town, with 84% of the area blanketed in steep wooded terrain, so hard working, rough and manly residents are ready to either welcome your visit or ask you to please leave if needed. If you are staying, then by all means visit the Ralph Stanley Museum, considered their crown jewel and named for the O Brother Where Art Thou movie, and a proud member of Dickenson County. The county was founded somewhere in the late 1800s. Not far from the Kentucky border and also a nice reservoir to the east within Virginia.
