Us 40 and US 191 meet in Vernal with them even running together part of the way, although US 191 enters from the North and US 40 from the Southeast. SR 121 also enters the town from the North and meets US 40 and US 191 running together.

Uintah County Heritage museum, located in Vernal, has on exhibit historic artifacts displayed in various areas such as the dress shop, parlor, first ladies of the White House dolls area and photography studio; Indian artifacts and a World War I medical kit. On exhibit in its outdoor area is a collection of horse drawn equipment. The Uintah Community center is also located in this city and has such amenities as swimming pools, two full-sized gymnasiums, an indoor track, a climbing wall, an aerobics and dance studio, a strength room and a cardio equipment area. Each July Vernal hosts the Dinosaur Roundup rodeo at the Uintah County Fairgrounds. This is an exciting rodeo with bareback bronco and saddle bronco riding, barrel riding, bull riding, calf and team roping and steer wrestling.
