**We're not sure about the street address. Google is confusing - "Justice Court" brings us "Rt 28"; "Directions" brings up a map, showing the justice court on Rt 28, between Old Rt 28 & Kleis Rd. "Shandaken Town Hall" brings up "7209 Rte 28"; "Directions" brings up a different map of Rte 28 - some street names the same, many different or missing. Call for directions.<br>We had mailing city as Allaben but we're informed it's really Shandaken.
ABOUT THE AREA
Shandaken means "Land of Rapid Waters" (short bathroom breaks?) or "Place of Hemlocks" (Socrates drank here). Don't ask us how it can be two radically different things - that's a Native American thing we hear. Two German families settled in Great Shandaken in 1752 - which later became The Corner, and now Mt Pleasant. Aaron Adams of Pine Hill (and the Old Pine Tavern 1810 - 1815) is best remembered for his great fiddling - & his time in the State Legislature.
