Avon Lake has plenty of parks and shore line and being a part of the Lorain County it enjoys the proximity to many places of attraction. Lorain County is located between Cleveland and the Lake Erie islands. It has best of the both worlds, the beach on one side, museums, Zoo, downtown and many more attractions on the other side. It is popular notion that the Civil war was started by Oberlin, a village in Lorain County. Other attractions of Lorain County are the Underground Rail road, and the Multi Sport tour which is a 60 mile stretch with wineries, art galleries, parks and lakes. These lakes offer sports like swimming and Kayaking.
