The interstate is just south of the river and the county is to the north. As a result, Lawrence Municipal Court doesn't get any of that speeding ticket revenue. But that doesn't stop the Court from having an awfully large staff.

Chesapeake is a small village in Lawrence with even less population. Lawrence County was named after Capt. James Lawrence from Chesapeake. Bordered by the Scioto River and the Ohio River, Lawrence County has a lot of picturesque landscapes to offer to the visitor's view. Also there are six architecturally renowned bridges constructed over the Ohio River. These bridges make it easy for travelers by road to connect to neighboring states like Kentucky, and West Virginia. Lawrence County also celebrates the blue grass festival apart from the county fair. For entertainment one can visit the events or the numerous state parks that line the county.
