ABOUT THE AREA
Originally part of the town of Berkshire, Newark Valley separated in 1862. Now hosts the sheep dog events at a farm, as well as an old-style Apple Festival in the fall - but in NY, who doesn't? The State Forests at Ketchumville & Jenksville are noted for hiking trails. An old native trail leading from the Susquehanna River to the salt flats in Onondaga is now Main St in the village of Newark Valley. The town boasts several Historic Places, including cemeteries, churches, a mausoleum and a bridge. Fun town!!
