ABOUT THE AREA
Named in 1832 for early settler Ezekiel Rich, builder of the Richford Hotel, which in 1821 was an inn, later the first town meeting hall, & voting place from 1832-1891. Along with many fine hiking trails (Anderson Hill, Beaver Dam, Turkey Hill & Michigan Hill State Forests), it has the highest elevation in the county. It's the birthplace of JD Rockefeller & the annual Potato (or Potatoe) Festival.
