ABOUT THE AREA
Newport is one more town in Vermont that has the same name as someplace far more famous and populated. Maybe some Canadians are more familiar with it. The area is well known for having the body of water that is the most unpronounceable and also most difficult to spell. Memphra ... Memfoonoggy ... oh heck!! The name means pissing stream or something like that in its now defunct native American (Indian dammit) language. Jay Peak, the ski area, is here too.
