ABOUT THE AREA
Gen. Leonard Wailes Covington received the honor to have his name preserved in history throughout his distinguished army career and due to his service in Congress back in the early 1800s. Due to this outstanding man, the Covington Town people named this blessed piece of land after him; preserving in history for generations his last name written in golden letter. Gen. Covington's run came to an end in the War of 1812.
