ABOUT THE AREA
Town is on the way to the Texas A&M University, big rival to the University of Texas, and just west of Prairie View. Hempstead is known for their watermelon and they've held the Watermelon Festival for 20 years now so if watermelon is your thing, enjoy. You will also see lots of Bluebonnets, the Texas state flower, in this area so be sure to bring along a camera.
