ABOUT THE AREA
Cazenovia is a quaint village situated about 20 miles from Syracuse and serves as one of the more affluent suburbs of Syracuse. Cazenovia was settled in 1793 and many elements of its historic charm remain. The summer home of Benjamin Brewster was located in Cazenovia. He was one of the original trustees of the Standard Oil Company. John D. Rockefeller served as one of the pallbearers at his funeral. The Brewster residence exists today as the Brewster Inn, a world class country inn. Cazenovia is also home to Lorenzo, an 1807 mansion built by the founder of the village. Lorenzo has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1970.
