There are several courthouses in Queens: Jamaica, Kew Gardens and Long Island City. Most handle Criminal and civil cases. Jamaica houses Queens Family Court. The Kew Gardens courthouse also holds Queens County Supreme Court. But the Criminal Court of the City of New York is probably the most interesting game in town.

New York City is comprised of 5 boroughs (counties): Brooklyn (Kings county), Queens (Queens county), Manhattan (New York county), The Bronx (Bronx county), and Staten Island (Richmond county). One of the original 12 counties of the Province of New York, Queens is largest borough in area and second most populous of the five boroughs of New York City, next to Brooklyn. It is the only one of the 5 boroughs where the original neighborhoods remain identified with the Postal Service. (ie: Kew Gardens, Long Island City, Flushing, etc.), whereas for instance, the areas in Brooklyn (i.e. Bushwick, Williamsburg, Canarsie, Brooklyn Heights, etc.) are listed as Brooklyn, NY.

There are several judges that preside over cases in Queens Criminal Court. The Supervising Judge is the Honorable Deborah Stevens-Modica.

Queens District Attorney, of course, prosecutes in Queens Criminal Court.

Criminal Cases. This Queens courthouse does handle Civil, and Family Court cases as well.
