<strong>Newport News General District Court</strong> has three divisions. This is the civil division. There is also a criminal court which we call <a href="http://www.town-court.com/getTownCourt.php?courtID=3405">Newport News County Court</a>. This is a bit off as there is no "county". We could call it <a href="http://www.town-court.com/getTownCourt.php?courtID=3405">Newport News Criminal Court</a> and that might make sense too.<br>Then there's the traffic court, which we call <a href="http://www.town-court.com/getTownCourt.php?courtID=2890">Newport News City Court</a>. And as you might imagine, we could have called it <a href="http://www.town-court.com/getTownCourt.php?courtID=2890">Newport News Traffic Court</a>.

The origin of the name of this independent city is still not clear even for historians but it is interesting the fact that shows on the list of the oldest names given since the colonists arrived to the territory. This farming and fishing land served as a bridge for the Newport News Marine Terminals, when the US Army base located in Fort Eustis required increasing its operations along the James River.
