ABOUT THE AREA
The Native Americans were the first "settlers" of Powhatan, specifically the Monacan Indians. Their influence is still alive not only by the agricultural management but also on the names of many communities in Powhatan. Disney could easily thank this territory for the love story born in this land; the Chief Powhatan was actually the father of Pocahontas.
