Blenheim has a history of contributions to the governance of New York State - both NYS Governor John King and Secretary of State Gail Shaffer are locals - as well as the fledgling United States of America - Jacob Sutherland was a delegate to the 1820 Constitutional Convention

The Blenheim Covered Bridge, crossing Schoharie Creek, is the longest single span wooden bridge (210 feet) in the world! Built in 1857, it's one of only 6 covered bridges with two lanes. Before the Revolutionary War, area Indians found an ore resembling silver. Since then, no more has been found - though that hasn't stopped people from looking....and out along route 30, NY Power Authority (1-800-724-0309) produces 1,000,000 watts of energy per day - their Visitor Center (& the Lansing Manor Museum) contain displays and interactive exhibits on energy, electricity and the environment (www.nypa.gov)
