COMMENTS
The county has become a leader in DWI prosecutions statewide. Monroe County has been said to take a tough stand on drunk drivers with very restrictive plea negotiations.
ABOUT THE AREA
Rochester is at the heart of Monroe County. The northern part of the county is densely populated but mostly suburban in nature. The southern region and far corners of the county are mostly rural. This county has a large population of college students due to the many universities and colleges including University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, and several SUNY campuses.
