ABOUT THE AREA
Named after the Indian expression for "dark water" or "alder stream", it was incorporated back in the 1830's from Coolbaugh Township. This municipality is part of the Stroudsburg metro area and it's constituted by the following communities: Blakeslee, Pocono Lake, Pocono Pines, and a small section of the territories of Pocono Summit. The population number reaches the 6150 inhabitants and the Locust Lake Village is the commercial center of this land.
