The history of this community as an established and settled land started since its incorporation back in the 1830's. The former "Black Town" has 1 square mile of territory and it's well communicated by the state highways 16, 74 and the 416. This municipality is the honored and blessed home of 1600 inhabitants who enjoy the pleasant and extraordinary view of the Appalachian mountains. The Mercersburg Academy is the pride and symbol of education and sports promoter in this land, well known and respected for its men´s cross country team.
