ABOUT THE AREA
With more than 8100 inhabitants, this territory was named after William Pitt when the European immigration constituted a very strong column for the coal mining industry back in the days of the city's incorporation in the 1890s. The communities of West Pittston, Duryea, Avoca, and Hugestown are the southern neighbors of Pittston; while Laflin borough is the northern frontier which is just a few puzzle sections of the Greater Pittston area.
