ABOUT THE AREA
Created back in the 1780s, this territory used to be part of Westmoreland County, and today is another member of the Pittsburgh metro area. Uniontown is the county seat of Fayette County with more than 12400 inhabitants and home of the Laurel Business Institute. With more than 795 square miles of territory, it is a neighbor of Westmoreland, Somerset, Garret (Maryland), Preston ( West Virginia), Greene, Washington, and Monongalia (West Virginia). Approximately 148600 residents have made this big community their home, generating a population density of 189 people per square miles in the territory of the Fort Necessity National Battlefield and Friendship Hill National Historic Site.
