ABOUT THE AREA
Created back in the 1870s from part of the Luzerne County and named from a derivation of an Indian term for "stream that forks", it is another piece of the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre metro area. Some of the communities in Lackawanna County include Benton, Archbald, Childs, Clarks Green, and Carbondale all served by great colleges such as Lackawanna College, Marywood University, Penn State Worthington Scranton, and Baptist Bible College and Seminary.
