Visiting Luzerne County? "The Coal Region" is today home of more than 319200 inhabitants, with a very interesting racial makeup where many of the residents have Polish ancestry. Hazleton, Nanticoke, Wilkes-Barre (county seat), and Pittston are the municipalities incorporated in this territory, which combined with thirty six boroughs and thirty six townships constitute the big map of this land incorporated back in the 1780s.
