More than 14500 people have made Clay County their home according to the statistics of the U.S. Census Bureau, generating approximately 5850 households, and more than 4000 families. Jasper, Wayne, Fayette, Richland, Marion, and Effingham Counties are some of the closest neighbors to this land established back in the 1820s as a puzzle from territories of Wayne, Crawford, and Fayette Counties. Served by Louisville as its county seat, this county of one city, five villages, and twelve townships is well connected with its surroundings by the Interstate 57, US Route 45, and US Route 50.
