Founded back in the 1880s, this land elevated 690 feet above sea level witnessed the arrival of several Italian, German, Polish, and Irish colonies just like its neighboring communities of Wood Dale, Itasca, Elk Grove Village, Glendale Heights, Villa Park, Lombard, Bensenville, and Elmhurst did. With more than 35900 residents and home of the Adventureland amusement park, this community in Salt Creek was named after the writer Joseph Addison.
