Sweet, interesting, proactive, organized, and charming could be just some of the adjectives on the long list of compliments to describe this territory in North Carolina State. Part of the Piedmont Triad metropolitan area, member of the regional Piedmont Triad Council of Governments, and formed back in the 1770s from sections of Rowan and Orange Counties, this community shares frontiers with Rockingham, Alamance, Davidson, Forsyth, and Randolph Counties. This territory of approximately 660 square miles of extension witnessed crucial events such as the arrival of the English Quakers settlements, the Battle of Guilford Court House, and liberation of slaves at the Underground Railroad where more than 2000 people was liberated.
