Established back in the 1770s, this community of more than 500 square miles of territory and silent witness of the American Revolutionary War is member of the regional Piedmont Triad Council of Governments. The territories of Montgomery County were part of Anson County, and they gave birth in the 19th century to Stanly County. The Town of Troy is the proud father of the National Ping Pong & Touch Football Champion, Chris DeCarlo; and it is the county seat of Montgomery County with more than 3400 inhabitants and just three square miles of extension elevated more than 655 feet above sea level.
