For those of you who are in search of a quiet, beautiful, and historical destination; Avery County could be just the ideal choice. This land founded back in the second decade of the 20th century is served by Newland city as its county seat, and it is located adjacent to Carter (TN), Johnson (TN, Caldwell, Burke, Mitchell, McDowell, and Watauga Counties. Home of two national protected areas and delicious summers, this land has a very rich production of Christmas trees managed by the Fraser Fir Christmas Trees company. Some of the cities and towns in this county are Elk Park, Linville, Crossnore, and Beeck Mountain.
