ABOUT THE AREA
Home of the Cherokee Indian Reservation, this land established back in the early 1870s is the proud son of Jackson and Macon Counties. Portions of three national protected areas are located in this territory nested between Macon, Blount (TN), Sevier (TN), Haywood, Jackson, and Graham Counties so we recommend you to make some space in your agenda to admire the beauty and treasures of Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Nantahala National Forest. The map of Swain County shows only three townships and three cities including Charleston, Bryson City, and Whittier.
