ABOUT THE AREA
Dutchess county is one of the original 12 counties in the state of NY when it was then known as the Province of NY. It is located in the Mid-Hudson Region of the Hudson Valley, and is considered part of the NY Metropolitan Area. I-84 is the only interstate highway in the county, and the county's main roads are US Rte 9, Taconic Parkway and NY Rte 22. The prestigious institutions of Vassar College and the Culinary Institute of America are located in Dutchess County.
