Under the zip code 78644, we found the community of Lockhart nested in between the territories of Uhland, Niederwald, Mustang Ridge, Martindale, and Luling; all of them located in a distance range of 10 to 14 miles away from the heart of this municipality which serves as the county seat of Caldwell County. Named after Byrd Lockhart, this community is mostly served by the Lockhart Independent School District and it is known as the "Barbecue Capital of Texas". Lockhart witnessed the victory of the Texans over the Comanche, at the Battle of Plum Creek back in the 19th century and it is the proud home of the Caldwell County Courthouse, the Dr. Eugene Clark Library, and the Brock Building.
